WELCOME TO MADE IN LISALAND
Creating. Teaching. Connecting.
MY STORY
Made In Lisa Land was launched in 2015 by Brisbane based maker, Lisa Guy. With a passion for hand-making, turning a hobby into a full-time occupation came easy. Her practice spans many forms and includes, Basket Weaving, Loom Weaving, Slow Stitching, Embroidery, Natural Dyeing and Modern Crochet.
Lisa loves using handmade and natural fibres from around the world and incorporates other natural materials such as driftwood, leather and feathers in her work.
With a great interest in many creative practices Lisa continues to travel and learn as much as she can and in turn shares her skills with others through workshops. Lisa believes that coming together to learn how to create using your own hands helps people to slow down and connect with each other as well as with the past when hand-making was a necessity; the act of hand-making helps to understand and appreciate the time and skill behind a craft. Workshops keep that creative link between generations alive, sharing knowledge and skill so it doesn't get lost.
Lisa teaches workshops at venues in Brisbane and interstate, as well as private workshops for groups. She has exhibited with Artisan Gallery, Brisbane in 2016 and at The Studio Brisbane in October 2019. Lisa currently has work for sale in Queensland and New South Wales.
I will always rely on craft and creating as an expressive outlet and calming factor in my life. It brings balance, joy, confidence and meaning to me.
